Travelling by bus is much cheaper than you might think. In a full-cost comparison, season tickets in particular always perform better than travelling by car with just one person. What's more, travelling in one of our comfortable buses is far less stressful and also more environmentally friendly. So treat your nerves, your wallet and your conscience to something good and give travelling by bus a try.

Which line is the quickest way to get where I need to go and how much does the journey cost? The staff at the RMV mobility centre in the SWG customer centre on Marktplatz can answer these questions. Here you will also find the complete range of RMV tickets and, of course, tickets for local special fares.

In addition, season tickets for the entire RMV network area are available at our sales point in Giessen.

Important information regarding your travel card for local public transport

From 1 November 2026, all local transport customers in the towns of Giessen and Wettenberg will be transferred to MIT.BUS GmbH. This means that your current contract with Stadtwerke Gießen AG will be terminated due to a change in the contractual partner to MIT.BUS GmbH.

This affects our customers with all products available on a subscription basis: the Hessen School Ticket, the Hessen Senior Ticket / Hessen Senior Ticket Comfort, the Annual Pass, the Germany Ticket / Germany Ticket with Hessenpass mobil / Germany Ticket with Hessenpass mobil and the Gießenpass.

In a letter sent in mid-July 2026, we informed our customers of this and asked you to actively consent to the contract transfer by completing a form.

Cashless payment on the bus

Our passengers can purchase cashless tickets on Giessen city buses. All they need to do is hold a card or a smartphone prepared for the payment function in front of the rectangle with the familiar symbol.

Thanks to the new technology, all standard tickets - from single journeys to day trips - can be purchased cashless directly on the bus. You are welcome to use our contactless payment system.
